Miriam Nuño

Miriam Nuño is a Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of California, Davis. She has over 15 years of experience in transdisciplinary research, collaborating with clinicians, epidemiologists, public health officials, mathematicians, statisticians, and community partners. Her work bridges biostatistics, mathematical modeling, epidemiology, and public health to develop innovative solutions to complex health challenges.

Dr. Nuño is an accomplished researcher with over 160 peer-reviewed publications and expertise in advanced statistical methodologies, including predictive modeling, longitudinal and clustered data methods, Bayesian inference, and large-scale big data analytics. She applied these methods to transform individual outcomes, with a particular focus on rigorously measuring and advancing mental health, complemented by expert proficiency in modeling and surveillance of infectious diseases to inform impactful public health interventions.

Dr. Nuño is deeply committed to community-engaged research, with a focus on mental health outcomes. As Co-Investigator and Lead Biostatistician at the Center for Reducing Health Disparities (CRHD), he leads initiatives aimed at reducing mental health disparities and enhancing access to care in underserved communities. In this role, she leads biostatistical and data management efforts, ensuring rigorous compliance with data sharing policies, archiving, integration, and effective dissemination of results. Her analytical expertise is instrumental in advancing CRHD’s mission to improve health outcomes through culturally responsive, community-informed, and data-driven approaches. Dr. Nuño is a relentless champion of health equity, pioneering statistical innovations and cultivating interdisciplinary partnerships to catalyze transformative, sustainable impact in public health.
